Giovani?
[edit]Giovanni is spelled as Giovani in Pokémon Stadium (see screenshot on this page) but as Giovanni in Pokémon Yellow.
--Fern 19:38, May 8, 2004 (UTC)
- That's because of technical limitations in Stadium -- characters can only have seven letters in their names (hence why "Lt. Surge" was changed to "Surge" and "Bug Catcher" was changed to "Bug Boy"). EllipsesBent 17:46, 29 October 2006 (UTC)
"obviously with red hair"
[edit]Where does this statement come from and why is it supposedly so obvious? --User:Dcomings 18:52, June 23, 2005
- From FireRed and LeafGreen. A Rocket Grunt in Team Rocket's base in the Sevii Islands asks the player "You're not Giovanni's kid, are you? No, Giovanni's kid has red hair." This quotation is also recorded in the Fame Checker. (By the way, some theorise Giovanni's red-haired kid is the rival from Gold and Silver). I believe the word "obviously" was used in reference to Giovanni's hair approaching a colour similar to red.Sinistro 20:23, 23 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Ah. I'd never gotten that far in FireRed. Thanks. --User:Dcomings 22:39, June 30, 2005
- Yet in the art of the games (in which the statement is made), Giovanni has dark hair. This would mean the mother had reddish hair (there is a complicated series of genes that determine hair colour, but I don't have absolute information on them right now). This means his kid's mom should have red hair, should she not? However, this of course leads only to more speculation. Also, people can have more than one child, especially if they are a crime boss without morals.
- I have read hair, And I can tell you now, That it's most likely who ever this kid is, it's his grandparents or great grandparents that have red hair. Red hair is most likely to jump a generation most of the time. In fact about 90% of the time from what I've observed. But that's getting a little off-topic. I was thinking if the grunt(I'm pretty sure it was a rocket scientist if I can renember correctly) knows that Giovanni's son has red hair then Giovanni himself would know who his son is therefore the chance of ash being his son would be ruled out.(Marsc corfontel 16:30, 22 May 2007 (UTC))
Persian
[edit]I like to think that Giovanni's Persian is his faithful friend and pet cat. He (Persian) always protects his master, brings in dead Raticates and Pidgeys, and sleeps on his master's bed. Whenever the boss is feeling down, Persian always comes and makes him feel better. 71.111.209.99 13:40, 23 January 2006 (UTC)
Unseen?
[edit]How can he be unseen if there's a picture in the article? 69.91.106.248 03:57, 6 March 2006 (UTC)
Mewtwo.
[edit]Mewtwo is not Giovanni's Pokémon, more his minion, just like Meowth is Jessie and James' assistant/minion as opposed to their Pokémon. It is never witnessed that Mewtwo was captured, and should be assumed that he was not put into a Pokéball. - A Link to the Past (talk) 23:02, 28 June 2006 (UTC)
Don?
[edit]I quoted this from the article: "Don Giovanni also has control over various Police Officer Jennys." For one thing, I've never heard anything confirming his first name as Don. Second, I don't recall Team Rocket being in charge of the law. Teamrocketspy621 00:02, 10 April 2007 (UTC)
I was under the impression that Don referred to the title of respect, not the actual name. 24.151.51.74 04:07, 21 May 2007 (UTC)
Ok, whoever stated that thing involving him having control over various Officer Jennys is quite obviously wrong. Because none of them seemed to side with Giovanni, if anything, they were totally against him if they're arresting Rocket Members proves anything, I mean, if a police force allied with a crime syndicate, why would they be arresting said crime syndicate's forces. The only time we saw an Officer Jenny working with Team Rocket was when she arrested Ash and co. for C&B in "Breeding Center Secret", which even then, she didn't even know that they were Rockets until Misty pointed it out to her (she was the only one of Ash's group who wasn't arrested.), and also had JJM stay in jail.
Prostitution?
[edit]In the part of this entry talking about where Giovanni gets his money, it mentions prostitution. I don't remember prostitution ever being mentioned in Pokemon and was rather surprised to see this. Does anybody know where this came from? It sort of looks like it may just be someone trying to drive the point home that Giovanni runs corrupt business. Brandonleon 18:24, 21 April 2007 (UTC
- The statement calls for citation. --24.62.79.31 01:11, 24 April 2007 (UTC)

This would be because when you first meet Giovanni he is called ????????. Trainra 08:37, 23 June 2007 (UTC)
Then should there be a mention of that in the article? Seldon1 14:20, 23 June 2007 (UTC)
Not really, it's not important and it doesn't affect the game. Trainra 01:09, 24 June 2007 (UTC)
Mention of mewtwo's creation

But I KNOW Giovanni is Ash's father
[edit]If you listen to the commentary of the third Pokemon movie, you will even hear the producers hinting towards Giovanni being Ash's father.209.91.61.251 03:30, 26 June 2007 (UTC)
You answered your own statement, hinting not saying. Trainra 06:33, 27 June 2007 (UTC)
- Not exactly. Why would they have even mentioned it if Giovanni really wasn't Ash's father? Just do us all a favor and watch it yourself.209.91.61.251 22:00, 28 June 2007 (UTC)
- I have seen it and as you said they hinted but did not say therefore it is not confirmed. Trainra 10:56, 30 June 2007 (UTC)
Ummm... Yeah... Giovanni really isn't Ash's father, since in Mewtwo Returns, Giovanni doesn't even recognise him (If they were able to have Darth Vader recognise who Luke Skywalker is by name as his son in the Star Wars films, they could do the same thing with Giovanni) and if you are referring to the dubbed version of the third movie, they aren't the creators, so they have no say of who Ash's father is. And besides which, Giovanni did not have any recognition of Ash in Mewtwo Returns in the original or the dubbed version. If 4kids was able to add Hints and alter dialogue between Ash and Misty to Make it Much More Shippy than it ever was in the original, then they can sure as heck add in hints about Giovanni being Ash's father in Mewtwo Returns that were not even there in the original if they wanted to make sure that Ash was Giovanni's Son.
- Also Giovanni's son is Silver, as confirmed in the games and mangaTrainra 03:09, 2 July 2007 (UTC)
sigh... "Pokemon Live!" should not be counted as canon!
[edit]ok, under family it says that the only canonical evidence of Ash being Giovanni's son is in Pokemon Live where Delia and Giovanni once dated. However, I should say that Pokemon Live should not be counted as canon since the writers of the pokemon anime (and thus satoshi tajiri) had absolutely no role in writing it, that sham of a broadway musical was created entirely by americans. so please remove that from the article please (or if not, at least remove the canonical part since it is in no way, shape, or form, canon!)
